WORK ON POTABLE WATER STORAGE TANK

The educational complex of Cheste (Valencia), which used to be a training college and belongs to the Department of Education and Science of the regional government of Valencia, had a large potable water storage tank which was in a very poor condition, failing to meet the minimum conditions for containing water for human consumption. The company responsible for maintaining the complex called for solutions for the tank’s repair.

The proposal presented by ZORELOR was selected for this project.

The solution suggested by ZORELOR was as follows:

• Stipple and remove all loose or poorly adhered material.
• Sand all the armoured mesh to remove all traces of rust.
• Treat the rust with ZOREL-OXID-SP.
• Apply ZORCONS-FP300 bonding mortar before the application of new concrete made on site.
• Repair of minor faults detected and application of saddle keys with ZORCONS-KSB.
• Seal cracks and fissures with ZORCONS-MS-POLIMERO.
• Waterproof the entire 2,700 m2 surface with ZORCONS-HIDRO, a product suitable for contact with potable water.

The outcome was so satisfactory that the roof of the tank is now being waterproofed with ZORPIT-IMPER-POL before installing DRAILAM and finishing with 2 cm of gravel.
